Ann Reinking Biography

Ann Reinking was an American actress, dancer, as well as a choreographer who was famous for her work in musical theater which included starring in Broadway productions of "Coco" (1969), "Over Here!" (1974), "Goodtime Charley" (1975), "Chicago" (1977), "Dancin'" (1978) and "Sweet Charity" (1986). She made her professional performing debut at the age of 12 in a production of "Giselle" with the English Royal Ballet. She also made her reprisal role of Roxie Hart in the 1996 revival of Chicago". Likewise, she was also the choreographer, winning the Tony Award for Best Choreography for "Chicago". She co-created, co-directed and co-choreographed the revue "Fosse" in the year 1998, receiving a Tony Award co-nomination for Best Direction of a Musical. In the movies, she had appeared for "All That Jazz" in 1979, "Annie" in 1982 and "Micki & Maude" in 1984. Recently, she choreographed "The Look of Love" on Broadway and the Roger Rees-directed off-Broadway "Here Lies Jenny" (2004), starring Neuwirth. In the year 2011, she helped choreograph "An Evening with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin" on Broadway. Sadly, she passed away at the age of 71.
